I forgot to share a funny story with you in my last post. The other day I was upstairs grabbing a few things and I heard Peanut start yelling for me. I had left her and Pumpkin in the living room. Peanut was sounding pretty upset so I dashed downstairs to see what had happened. As I looked over the stairs I saw a pretty funny sight. (Sorry Peanut, but it cracked me up!) There lay Peanut on the floor with Pumpkin latched onto her hair for dear life. The funny part was that Peanut was crying and so upset, and there lay Pumpkin grinning ear to ear! I have a slight feeling that little Pumpkin will be giving her big sister a big run for her money. Let me remind you again that Peanut is 3 years old and Pumpkin is 5 months, 4 1/2 when this happened. Oh, so ornery!
A friend of mine and room-mate from college left this in my comments and I thought it was so good and helpful to remember..."I read something in a parenting magazine at the doctor's office a while back that helped me, and it hit the nail on the head. It said these so called spirited kids seem to feel emotions more deeply. So when they're angry they're really angry. But they feel the good stuff more too. It's hard now when they're young, and don't know how to control their emotions. But these kids are the kind that grow up and go out and change the world. They just need a little help from us along the way." Thanks Mommie Daze!
We are doing much better now. I have been giving Pumpkin a bit of formula throughout the day along with our regular breastfeeding routine. She gobbles the bottle down and it seems to help her sleep better. Hoping she is just growing thus needing more nourishment and not that my milk supply is decreasing. We have also started giving her cereal once a day. She thinks it is great fun to blow raspberries at Mommy while eating it. Have I mentioned she has an ornery streak?
Had a good morning at the REST Stop for moms. Met some really nice women, one of whom lives just around the corner from me. Looking forward to going on some walks or having some playdates with her.
