I normally post my own transformations on Thursday's, but I will gladly take the back burner today to an amazing story. This transformation deserves to be recognized and put into the limelight. Prepare to be inspired by a giving man and his recycled houses.
Here is his story featured in the NY Times: "Dan Phillips started Phoenix Commotion, a construction business in his hometown, Huntsville, Tex., where he builds low-income housing out of salvaged items. 80 percent of the materials are salvaged from other construction projects, hauled out of trash heaps or just picked up from the side of the road."
I love the salvaged corks for his version of a cork floor.
The bottom of glass bottles were cut and transformed into an eclectic stained glass window in a door.
I love the sliced up orange wood that was used for the counter tops.
And he certainly was thinking outside the box when he used cattle bones for the numbers on the house!
What a very generous man with such an inspirational story. Truly amazing what you can do with salvaged materials, isn't it? Click on the NY Times link for the full story and a lot more jaw dropping photos.
Have you done any cool recycled transformations? Do tell. Please post a link in the comment section so I can check them out. I love to be inspired.
Happy Thursday,
