Saying Charleston was gorgeous is an understatement. It was just amazing. The homes were astoundingly beautiful and so historic. Also to say it was hot during our visit is an understatement. It was certainly worth every drop of sweat that was shed though to see this incredible city.
We were trying to make it to Fort Sumter but after walking almost 3 miles in the heat to the ferry, we found out we had just missed the last ferry to the fort by 30 minutes.
My sweet sister-in-law bought each family a frozen Italian Ice treat for each melting family member to share. After being refreshed from our cold treat, we headed back through town walking down the amazing streets.

We got in some family pictures in this picturesque setting too. The picture above is of my family with Daddy's sister, her girls, Dobbie and Papa. The picture below is of Dobbie and Papa with Daddy's brother and his family.
We stopped to read plaques on the homes of the historical accounts that took place in so many of them. I felt like I could just slip back in time to the days these homes were built. You could almost hear the horses and carriages clip clopping along the cobblestone streets. I had a hard time imagining myself in the long dresses that the women wore in those days. How did they not just melt away?
The kids did so good walking in the heat. They just enjoyed all being together. Little Pumpkin got pretty worn out and snuggled up to her sweet Aunt and fell asleep.
She was so tired that she didn't even wake up when we laid her down in the stroller.

We had so much fun in this beloved southern town and would LOVE to go back to see more of it maybe in a different season next time though.
Daddy had to fly back home after our day of walking around Charleston. We were sad to see him go but so glad he was able to come and spend some time with all of us.
More Southern adventures to come but for now.....Good Night Y'all!!!!
