How to downplay an eye sore for staging

Here is the piano before we softened it up a bit with new accessories.

This was for a staging client. The piano had to stay, it was old and I think a family heirloom. I affectionately called it "Liberace" because of the white, textured, leather material and bling. Yes, I said leather, the whole thing was covered in it but actually it may have been pleather. Who knows. But, hey shame on me, it could be worth a lot of money, right? This is one of those instances where beauty is in the eye of the beholder. (And my eyes weren't the beholder!!)

We dressed it up with some accessories that the owner had and made the best of what we could, without totally camouflaging it. I do think the accessories help to distract you away from the piano, even if just for a moment. I like the layering of the artwork and frames. And, the greenery softens it up a bit while the tea lights give it a warm glow.

What do you think?

Happy Transformation Thursday,
