There were a few years when I questioned if we would be given the opportunity to have a baby. My, oh my how my world changed when we were. I have heard so many parents say, "I can't remember what was so important before our kids came." This is so true. Nothing bears more importance or responsibility than caring for our family now. What an incredible thing.
I know I have posted this quote here before but I love it. It spoke so much to me when I read it for the first time after having Peanut.
"The moment a child is born, the mother is also born.
She never existed before.
The woman existed, but the mother, never.
A mother is something absolutely new."
~Rajneesh

My Mother's Day was low key as Daddy is struggling with a very bad case of Gout in his left foot. He was in alot of pain over-night which resulted in not much sleep for either of us. He was hardly able to walk today so he just stayed off of his feet as much as possible. I took the girls to church this morning and was a bit harried by the time I got them dropped off at nursery and myself settled in the service. I did however get to sit beside a sweet friend who has a brand new baby who made those incredible little baby sounds and took me right back to the girls when they were newborns themselves making those sweet noises.
After church Daddy ordered pizza from our favorite place in town since he was feeling bad about not being able to take us out. It was nice to not have to worry about what to make for lunch right after church.
During Pumpkin's naptime Peanut and I headed out for some time alone. We went to Kohl's where she patiently waited while I tried on some things. In return she got to peruse the toys. We then headed to Starbucks for a treat. She enjoyed an apple juice box while I took part in HAPPY HOUR! (You do know about this right? Starbucks Frappucinos are halfway from 3-5 p.m. from now through May 16.)
When we got home Peanut fell asleep just in time for Pumpkin to wake up. Pumpkin and I spent the time playing and laughing together. She was in such a silly mood full of great belly laughs.
My mom was in many of my thoughts today. I so wish I could have called her up and wished her a Happy Mother's Day but I know she is in a much better place and most importantly healed! Love You, Mom!
I am so grateful for an exceptional Mother-in-law! She means so much to me and I have thought about her alot today also and missing her as there are quite a few more miles between us this year than last.
It was a good day. We are hoping that Daddy is feeling better very soon! Please keep him in your prayers as his busy summer class semester will begin on Tuesday.
